Java's celebrated volcanoes Bromo & Ijen

A classic and convenient route. Room around in Bromo's spectacular landscape and pay the magnificent most acidic lake on earth a visit.

Day 1: To the large bowl shaped crater

You will happily be picked up in Surabaya. Most convenient is after your breakfast, but not too late. You will need 3 to 4 hours to reach Cemara Lawang village. This village is located exactly at the edge of the caldera in which the Bromo volcano rose 40,000 years ago. A caldera is a large bowl-shaped crater, formed by volcanic activity. This caldera was formed thousands of years before mount Bromo popped up. It is very interesting to stay in Cemara Lawang; you can explore the agricultural area, gaze at mount Bromo, or relax in your hotel. Don't forget to see the sunset.

Discovery ideas: you will meet the Madakaripura Waterfalls after Probolinggo, and on your way to Cemara Lawang village. Enchanting. Imaginizing.
